CASp & CBC Compliance
01
Challenge
A CASp report identified that the running slope of several accessible parking spaces and their access aisles exceeded the 2% maximum allowed under California Building Code.
02
Solution
RPM was engaged to correct the grade, rebuild the parking, and reconnect the site with a compliant path of travel.
- Sealcoated the existing non-compliant accessible stalls ahead of demolition
- Relocated accessible parking to the center of the lot on each side of the property
- Removed and regraded non-compliant asphalt to rebuild a compliant, side-by-side configuration of van- and standard-accessible stalls
- Striped and marked the new stalls with ISA code-compliant stenciling and signage
- Striped a new path of travel connecting both buildings per California Building Code §11B-206.2.2
- Removed the existing built-up curb ramps and poured two new butterfly ramps to correct the non-compliant grade
- Installed truncated dome detectable warning mats at the base of each new ramp
